๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฆ‡ Friday Spotlight: From Mice to Bats to a Breath of Fresh Air! ๐Ÿงผ๐Ÿ’จ

Some of you may remember the article I shared last December, where I talked about finding mice in the basement—only to later discover our attic had become a full-service Bat B&B. While that was quite the surprise, it also gave me the opportunity to work with two outstanding local companies I want to spotlight today.

Pestway Pest Control
When we realized we had some uninvited guests, we called Pestway. Their team was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly thorough. They explained that bats are a protected species under Michigan law and cannot be harmed or removed during their active season (typically May through August) when they are raising their young.

So what did the process involve?

Bat & Wildlife Remediation includes:

  1. Inspection – Identifying all entry and exit points used by bats or other pests.

  2. Exclusion – Installing one-way devices that allow bats to exit safely but not return.

  3. Waiting period – After bats safely leave (often in the fall), sealing off all entry points.

  4. Cleanup – Once Pestway confirmed all bats had exited in May, they returned to clean and deodorize the attic and removed contaminated insulation.

  5. Rodent prevention – They also sealed the foundation and other gaps to stop mice from returning.

Thanks to Pestway’s knowledge and humane approach, our home is now pest-free—and no wildlife was harmed in the process. ๐Ÿฆ‡๐Ÿ’š

Royal Duct Cleaning

Once the attic was sealed and sanitized, we turned to Royal Duct Cleaning to take care of our HVAC system. They cleaned and sanitized our ductwork to eliminate any lingering odors, allergens, or contaminants that may have spread throughout the house during the infestation.

The air feels fresher, and we now have peace of mind knowing our family is breathing clean, healthy air.

Both companies were timely, respectful, and communicative every step of the way. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation (fingers crossed you don’t), I highly recommend both of these professionals.

Local business shoutouts like this are why I love our community.

Thanks again to Pestway and Royal Duct Cleaning for helping us reclaim our home!

Valentine’s Day, celebrated every February 14 , is a day dedicated to love and affection , often marked by the exchange of cards ๐Ÿ’Œ, chocolates ๐Ÿซ, and flowers ๐ŸŒน . But the origins of this romantic holiday are steeped in history , blending ancient traditions, religious significance, and cultural evolution over centuries. ๐Ÿ“œ Ancient Beginnings: The Festival of Lupercalia The roots of Valentine’s Day can be traced back to ancient Rome ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น , where the mid-February festival of Lupercalia was celebrated.
